Apologies for the hiatus as we've been working on book edits and launching a new national food and beverage podcast. For today, just a quick appreciation of: Ramazzotti Aperitivo Rosato. It is a "rosato" as in something pink, not as in a pink wine.

No matter. We still appreciate this hibiscus-and-orange blossom liqueur, introduced to us by a Swiss friend. Add a splash to an otherwise-middling glass of sparkling wine, and the contents of your glass go from drab to dynamite.

According to the brand's Italian website, the best way to serve the stuff is with Prosecco and fresh basil, although we're also hearing that soda water and a mint sprig is the way to go.

Piemontese Ramazzotti has been in business since 1815, but is best-known as an Amaro producer. Pernod Ricard appears to sell the pink elixir mostly to German-speaking and central European nations. So we've been reading about it in places like this delightful blog from two lovelies in Vienna, and sneaking sips from our Swiss friend's bottle.
